Gerald L. Bray

Director of Research for the Latimer Trust

B.A., McGill University

M.Litt., D.Litt., University of Paris-Sorbonne

Gerald Bray has joined the Trust as Director of Research, following a career teaching church history and historical theology. In addition to the contribution he already makes to the Theological Working Group, he has a specific brief of mentoring theologians, writing, and taking on speaking engagements, to encourage Christians to stand up for Biblical truth in church, work, and theology.

Prior to joining us, he taught in Beeson from 1993, and previously he served as lecturer in theology and philosophy at Oak Hill College in London and was visiting fellow at General Theological Seminary in New York.

A prolific author, Bray has published numerous scholarly articles in addition to several books, including The Doctrine of God in the Contours of Christian Theology series (which he also serves as general editor), Creeds, Councils, and Christ (IVP), The Anglican Canons (1529-1947) (Boydell) and commentaries on Romans, 1 and 2 Corinthians, and James to Jude in the Ancient Christian commentary Series. One of his recent books, Biblical Interpretation: Past and Present (IVP), was noted as one of the ten books every pastor should read. He is also editor of the Anglican quarterly The Churchman. He has just completed a twenty-volume edition of the convocation records of the Churches of England and Ireland. He is an ordained minister in the Church of England.

On 5th and 6th November Gerald Bray delivered the 2007 Jordanstown Lectures on Biblical Interpretation.

The text of these lectures is available to read here:
