Truth and Unity in Christian Fellowship

A lecture hosted by the Peterborough Diocesan Evangelical Fellowship in partnership with the Latimer Trust on 2nd April 2007 at Christ the King, Kettering.

What is the basis for fellowship and unity in the Anglican Communion? Surely we have to turn to the Apostolic testimony as found in the Bible. But how are we to understand this within our own culture and context? In this timely lecture, Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali reflects on the characteristics of Anglicanism, and its strengths and weaknesses.

Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali is the 106th Bishop of Rochester. He is originally from Asia and was the first non-white Diocesan Bishop in the Church of England. He was appointed in 1994, before which he was the General Secretary of CMS from 1989-1994. He holds both British and Pakistani citizenship and since 1999 has been a member of the House of Lords. He is President of the Network for Inter-Faith Concerns in the Anglican Communion (NIFCON) as well as being a member of a number of ecclesiastical and advisory committees. He is the author of nine books and of numerous articles on Mission, Ecumenism, the Anglican Communion, and relations with people of other faiths (particularly Islam). His interests other than theology are cricket, hockey, table tennis, scrabble, listening to music, and watching television.
