Involvement
Involvement in the Latimer Trust carries privileges and responsibilities.
The privileges will include restricted access to information and discounts for financial supporters.
As the inter-personal work of the Trust expands, there will be dedicated web spaces resourcing the Fellowship closely involved in different aspects.
If you would like further details or to register for this, please contact webmaster@latimertrust.org
The responsibilities include supporting the work of the Trust both in prayer and financially. You might like to consider:
1) Support a person
Gerald Bray, our Director of Research, is currently travelling widely in the UK and abroad, building up networks of contacts, assessing the needs, and re-integrating himself into the UK scene after 13 years in the USA. He is also continuing to write and speak, publishing through IVP and others, and will provide a significant input to our own publications work. His overseas travel is paid for by his hosts, but we are paying a full clergy stipend with associated living, pension and UK travel expenses. Could you pray for him, and specifically give to support his work?
Andrew Atherstone is our Research Fellow, who is also paid a full stipend, pension and expenses but receives a house for duty in the Diocese of Oxford. His role has involved reviewing scripts as first point of call on their way to publication as well as writing himself. The Research Fellow is also a member of the Theological Work Group, which devises the proposed publication schedule; he will also take a significant role in building up the Ability and Reliability Network, which aims to support and build up young thinkers, including those to whom grants will be made by the Trust. Could you pray for and give to this work?
2) Support the publications
It may surprise some of you that only about 25% of people who have asked to be on our Supporters list are also Subscribers to our publications, and over half of our Supporters have not bought a publication from us in the last 5 years. We are devising a number of publication “packages”, and those of you who value a stimulating read can also take up and enjoy a regular subscription, and if appropriate, increase the value of your subscription by Gift Aid. For example, for UK donors, a net gift of at least £32 each year would (under current legislation) allow us to send you each new publication free as well as to claim £8 tax back.
3) Support in your will
It is an astonishing fact that 70% of deaths in the UK are without a will. We do hope yours is not one of them! Should this remind you to review the provisions of your will, may I ask you to consider the following:
• Monetary bequests (ie. of a specific sum) should be made “net of tax” if the beneficiary is to receive the actual amount specified
• A gift to a “Residuary Beneficiary” of even a small percentage (rather than a specified amount) retains the value of the gift relative to inflation and other costs
• If you wish to give to the Latimer Trust, please identify us with the Registered Charity No. 1084337.
4) Regular Support
Even the smallest on-going giving soon adds up, especially if we can take advantage of Gift Aid. We aim to write to our Supporters at least once a year with updates of news, publications and plans. To join the Supporters' list, please e-mail/write to the Administrator. If you are happy to receive communications by e-mail, it cuts our costs too!
If you would like to support the work of the Trust, one-off donations can be made on-line or contact administrator@latimertrust.org for Gift Aid and Bank S/O forms.
